Goodbye Facebooger

I'm saying goodbye to Facebook. After I copy the photos I want to save, retrieve some articles I wrote early on, I'll be deleting both of my accounts and immigrating entirely to MeWe.com and shaking Zuckerberg's dust off of my shoes.

Yesterday I was placed in Facebook jail..... Apparently the sentence; "Americans have become incredibly stupid" in response to a post by my sister, is a violation of Facebook's "community standards".

Anyway, I've become increasingly annoyed with Facebook over the past few months. Many of the articles I've posted have been flagged by "independent fact checkers" as false, partially false, etc. The latest was this morning. It was an article about a guy getting arrested for setting fires out west, being released and setting more fires. The "fact checkers" flagged the article and posted this reason as why:

"Western US wildfires are not the result of widespread arson"

The article didn't even state that..... It was merely a report on an individual who was caught setting more fires after being released from custody for setting fires... I found this incredibly amusing because three weeks ago, I posted the infamous article from The Atlantic where anonymous sources told the editor that the president bad mouthed veterans and the military, supposedly calling those killed in war "Losers". Many within the administration have come forward and on the record saying that it didn't happen, including John Bolton who is no fan of Donald Trump. I asked my friends to report the article to Facebook and they did, Friends also posted it asking people to report it and I did. The article is still up with no flags from the supposedly "independent fact checkers".

Anyone who has a brain can clearly see what's going on. Facebook and Silicone Valley in general are using left wing activists called "independent fact checkers" to further their narrative and silence any and all information contrary to that narrative. Facebook is supposed to be a platform, but has now become a publisher making editorial decisions rather than being a forum for people to exchange ideas. The same has happened with YouTube and Twitter as well.

If Facebook is going to act as a publisher and use the platform to editorialize, I don't want to be a part of it. I will not allow my usage of Facebook to line Zuckerberg's pockets.

Facebook is free because it sells adds using algorithms to target it's users. That's why you see the ads you see; they have been selected for you based on your "likes", "shares", "polls" etc. Your traffic on the platform is what makes that little Zucker a billionaire and to turn around and censor the consumer
and picking which articles are "fact" while mining that same consumer's data to make money is the greatest of insults. It shows a lack of respect for the consumer and it shows the arrogance of these tech companies and I will no longer be a party to it.

I already have a MeWe.com account and I encourage you to join me. It's a little lonely over there at the moment as there aren't a lot of people signed up, but I have gotten 9 friends from the FB platform to join me over the past two weeks. Mewe doesn't have all the features of Facebook because they don't sell ads, but the basic service is free. Most of all they respect your opinions, free speech and your privacy. They even have a WeWe User Bill of Rights.
